What's new for the 2021 Model?

Honda has permanently axed the Civic coupe in 2021, while the Civic is discontinued until they launch the next-generation model. Honda has a new Civic model for buyers in 2021, the R Limited Edition.

Engine, Transmission, and Performance

The 2021 Honda Civic is available with three powertrains. The base Honda Civic is powered by a 2.0-liter naturally aspirated engine that is paired with either a continuously variable automatic transmission or a six-speed manual. This powertrain delivers 158 hp and 138 lb-ft of torque. The EPA rates fuel economy of civic powered by this engine at 26-30/36-38 mpg city/highway depending on the configuration. The Honda Civic with this engine accelerates from 0-60 mph in 7.8 seconds.

Top-tier Civic sedan models, and all Civic hatchbacks are powered by a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine. When paired with the CVT, this powertrain delivers 174 hp and 162 lb-ft of torque and achieves a fuel economy of 30-32/38-42 mpg city/highway. The Sport and the Sport Touring versions of the hatchback are powered by the same engine. However, it delivers 180 hp and 177 lb-ft of torque with the six-speed manual and 180 hp and 162 lb-ft with a CVT automatic. The EPA rates fuel economy of this powertrain at 29/35-37 mpg city/highway.

If you are interested in performance, you can opt for the R Limited Edition. It is powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder that delivers a whopping 306 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque and is only available with six-speed manual transmission.

Safety

The 2021 Honda Civic is a very safe car. The NHTSA gives it a 5-star overall safety rating while the IIHS awards it a Perfect score. All Civic models are equipped with the Honda Sensing Safety suite that features lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, and automatic emergency braking.

Technology

The LX models are equipped with a 5.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system and four-speaker audio. The rest of the models are equipped with a larger 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment display that features Apple CarPlay and Android Auto Compatibility. The Civic Touring and Sport touring comes standard with built-in navigation and a 10-speaker audio system for East Haven and Milford drivers.
