Held every year to ring in the New Year, this grandiose event features the Rose Bowl college football game, marching bands, costumes, decorations and of course, the motorized floats. As noted, this year's theme comes directly from the annals of Dr. Seuss, with the title "Oh, the Places You'll Go!" Tournament of Roses president Sally M. Bixby speaks to the Honda float and perhaps why it is the leading entity. "The world of endless possibilities that awaits us all is creatively displayed on the Honda float, and it truly captures the spirit of the 124th Rose Parade theme."1
Aboard the Honda float you'll find depictions of a number of innovative Honda technologies which span out across three islands. The islands help capture the fantastical elements that might appear in a dream, including a castle, 16-foot-high working slide and an airship. Also treating viewers this year is ASIMO, the world's most advanced humanoid robot, being lifted by colorful balloons.
Surrounding this exquisitely-decorated float are the pace car, a 2013 Honda Accord sedan, and a Honda Accord Coupe acting as the sound car.
Circling back to our opening riddle, it appears this will be the third straight year Honda's float will be propelled by a custom configured hybrid vehicle complete with low emissions to reduce carbon footprint by propelling the whole float more efficiently.
