Saying Goodbye to the Remarkable Honda Insight

Unfortunately, today we are coming to you from the Brandfon Honda showroom with some sad news for you hybrid fans out there. It appears as though the reign of the 2014 Honda Insight will be coming to an end. It was announced in a press release about a month ago that at the end of this year, the Honda Insight will no longer be produced.

The insight is regarded as the most-affordable mass-produced hybrid currently available here in the U.S. and we sure will be sad to see it go. Of course this isn't to say that Honda is abandoning its eco-friendly efforts. In fact it is quite the opposite.

In the press release, Honda officials said that putting an end to the Insight was necessary in order to further advance their alternative-fuel agenda. Now, more effort can be placed into further development of the Honda Earth Dreams™ Technology engines as well as other electro-motive technologies. The next big push will involve the two-motor system that can currently be found in the 2014 Honda Accord Plug-In Hybrid.

Senior Vice President of Auto Operations at American Honda, Michael Accavitti, commented, "No manufacturer has more experience with electromotive technologies than Honda and we are committed to applying our expertise to a wide range of products in the coming years. Our hybrid vehicle strategy will focus on new models aimed at delivering the class-leading fuel economy and performance our customers' desire in segments that represent significant growth opportunities."1

Of course you will certainly be able to find Insight models in our selection of used Honda for years to come. Learn more by visiting us here at the Branfon Honda showroom. We hope to see you soon.
